My entry in the April Flores XXX Toy Art Show. The art show was based around the original plaster mold used to create the April Flores XXX love toy. Various artists were given these molds to paint, draw, decorate, etc. Since I do stained glass I made a tiffany style swag lamp based on that mold.
Originally I had planned for the lamp to be completely enclosed so I came up with the little door on the back to open in order to change the light bulb. It has its own hinge and latch. ( I scratched the enclosed idea in order to have a better functioning lamp along with allowing heat to escape more efficiently but kept the door anyway.)
I was thinking 20's art deco Egyptian and the central theme in the center is an inverted pyramid. The back has 2 hieroglyphs. The one on the left is for the Egyptian month that was closest to our calender April and the one on the right is for flowers so together they make April Flowers aka April Flores. Hatshepsut was the longest ruling female pharaoh of Eygpt and means Foremost of noble ladies. Thus the name of the piece: Temple Of Hatshepsut.
Measures 11" x 10" x 8". Completed 12/15/09. Contains approx 475 pieces of glass.
